We've got a course!

After many trials and tribulations we've secured a course for Race 1, the annual Halloween costume race. Many thanks to Aptos High School principal Casey O'Brien for making this possible on such short notice. Casey's been riding our series since the mid '90s and is, in his own words, "totally STOKED" to have a race on his home turf!

New Things for This Season:

  • USA Cycling sanctioned: Surf City Cyclo-X races will contribute to USAC ranking points this season. As a result, all riders will need to have a USAC license or buy a one-day license on site. We will cover the cost for all Juniors who need a one-day license.

For those interested in buying an annual license, better to wait until after the first race: annual licenses bought November 1st and later are good through the rest of 2012 and all of 2013.
  • Racing age is your age as of the end of Dec 2013, not 2012. This is because USAC defines your racing age as your age at the end of the year in which the season ends, which in the case of CX is February.
  • Chip Timing: We will issue passive, helmet mount chips to all riders this season. The chip will be used for the entire series, so please keep it on your helmet through the final event in December. There's no additional fee for the chips, but there will be a $5 replacement fee for lost ones. Chips issued by other events will not affect our system, so feel free to leave them on.
